I finished the Queen of Attolia. (I knew it all along....just in denial as usual) I'm so Jo.

walking past the couter into my grandparents' kitchen this morning to see about some breakfast, I did a Jack Sparrow-like double take and spun around. something had grabbed my attention from the corner of my eye. a largeish roll of bubble wrap was sitting pathetically by itself, bubbly side in, as if trying to hide and look inconspicuous. but I knew better. I knew better because an end was sticking out where the roll part had rolled away, and two crisp rows of bubbled yet unpopped caught my trained eye.

like the experienced popper I am, I looked around silently and noticed only my mother in disguise of a nurse, hard at work to make my sick computer healthy and internet-savvy again. no threat there. slowly I turned my head to the other side: no one there. as far as I knew, everyone else was away at work, except the two bird busily scavenging their food dishes - both locked in their cages.

convinced at last that no one would hinder my escapade, I cautiously poked one finger out and jabbed at the corner bubble. it let out a disappointing and pathetic fizzle. I didn't even bother glancing around; no one would have heard such a poor display of bubble wrap-popping. Disappointed, I resumed my breakfast searching, only to discover a distinct shortage of milk in the fridge. I mean, enough for a steamed hot chocolate, but would I be the one to empty the milk carton in another's house? never! this was the beginning of a long and nearly fruitless search throughout the house, for I knew there must be another, either frozen or in the bar fridge. but of course the bar fridge has been moved, and where to only my grandparents could say.
well, them and my mom as it turned out. and there to reward my efforts was not only a gallon of milk, but also a can of gingerale! *sigh* my favorite.
so....how do you work the coffee machine?

cuz if we leave, then we just might make a difference.
and if we leave, then we just might be okay.
and I don't think it would hurt to get away...

I'm leaving for Hawaii early Tuesday morning, but will have internet access for the nine (sigh) days I'll be gone. and my cell phone too of course. really, it won't be much different than if I were here - I'll actually probably be online a lot more. other than snorkeling and reading and watching movies and eating ice cream, there won't be much esle to do. which I'm very much looking forward to. :D

guess where I got to get yesterday? oh come on, I said guess! no guessed? ok then, I'll tell you. I got to go to Goodwill!
where I got: many pairs of very cute socks, two hats (in Camp Hope Hat style, but different colors), and a Hawaii-ish light summery dress.
and then a music store near where my mom was having here meeting, where I found Jedi Rocks with all the Ewok lyrics and translation (yay!).
and then back to Goodwill with my dad, who I talked rather skilfully into buying the Princess Bride for only two dollars. YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so so so so so happy!!!!!!! it was really funny though.
"Have you seen this movie before?"
"Yes Dad, twice. it's very good. all my friends like it too."
"*scanning the back* 1987??"
"yeah...."
"you're sure this is the one you saw?"
(just in case all the pictures on the front didn't give it away....)
"yes, I'm quite sure."
"well, we'll have to see how much it is."
"ok...."

*at the register*
"so, should I be getting my wallet out?"
"well, I think I could probably pick it up, if you really want it."
*nodds vigorously*
