the angel on the stairs/will tell you I was there

yesterday was pretty good, as far as days go.
I went to Starbucks. Christmas is amazing because of the ridiculously wonderful influx of Starbucks gift cards. I swear I would never be able to go if it weren't for gift cards.

at youth group we made bubble gum sculptures, and I volunteered Becca to be the sculptor. she's an artist, and extremely creative. poor girl. that was after playing hot potato with a jar of baby food. yeah, you end up with it and you've gotta eat some.
what's the point of Young Life games? I haven't figured it out yet either.

we generally just hung out and had a good time with each other. I haven't been to youth group in awhile (due to holidays and going out of town) so it was cool. Katie and Alicia are home from college for the month, and we all brought back jokes from the mission trip and stuff, which was...errr.....interesting. :P

I'm getting used to English, slightly. I mean, what we have to do drives me absolutely crazy, but I think I'm learning how to handle being with my teacher for 50 minutes of every day. as we learned in French today - "Vivement le vendredi!" basically, thank God it's Friday. a student's favorite phrase.
and French is still really cool. we haven't really gotten to much grammar though - just phrases and pronounciation and the alphabet. so it's boring, and lots of crazy vocab. she keeps talking about Paris though...I want to go so bad. do you think Europe is really as amazing as it's protrayed? I mean, as a tourist, would it really be like the movies? isn't it Hollywood that makes us want to go there anyway?
because honestly, I don't know how you could watch Sabrina and not be dying to visit Paris.

yeah, not much going on. oh I would like your vote, though. for my recital, I'm gonna to a ragtime piece - should I do Maple Leaf Rag, or The Cascades?

ok, that's about it.

you wanna reach out
you wanna give in
your head's wrapped around
what's around the next bend....

  3. AWESOME movie!!!!!
    Sabrina too. :-)

I have no idea what piece you should play seeing as I have never heard either of them before... I'm going to take a guess and go with the Cascades. It sounds prettier, I think.

  4. well...they're both ragtime so I'm not sure I'd call them pretty...

actually they're both pretty similar. like all of Joplin.

I just re-fell in love with the Valse by Chopin. I tried actually playing it with expression - amazing the difference it makes!

oh gosh I love Sabrina so much. anyone who doesn't like that movie should be....

I don't know what they should be. excommunicated? no. I give up. I'm so sleep-deprived.
    good night.

  5. yeah, I'm afraid that I don't know either of those pieces, so I'm afraid I won't be much help.

I know, I'd love to go to Paris . . . anywhere in Europe. That's so awesome that you're learning french. I haven't quite decided what I want to take for my language credits.

  6. well you don't HAVE to take foreign language in running start. there's a ton of classes you can take for Humanities/Fine Arts/English.
I just like foreign languages. :)

hmm...I'm sure you can find both songs on YouTube to listen to them.

  9. no, not that movie! it's a movie about a girl who goes to Paris...and there's romance and comedy and other crazy stuff. it's a chick flick. really good. it was originally a movie with Audrey Hepburn and then was remade with Julia Ormand and Harrison Ford.

and it's pretty much amazing. :)

  12. oh sadness! how could you not like that movie?
    I mean, Freddie Highmore!

August Rush is about this kid who is a music prodigy, and basically he got all his talent from his parents and through a long series of circumstances was left in an orphanage and doesn't know who they are....so he's trying to use his music to find them. and it's also an amazing movie. especially because Freddie Highmore and Robin Williams are in it!

  13. What?! Honestly Lindy, I can't believe you don't like that movie. that's just sad.

But I have to admit that I've never heard of Sabrina . . .

  14. It's an older movie, I know a ton of people who have never heard of it, so don't feel bad. really though, you should watch it if you can get it from the library or somewhere.
there's one tiny little "don't look" scene that lasts for like five seconds - it's pretty obvious when not to watch.
and other than that the movie is aMAZing!!!

  15. To be honest, I never really liked Freddie Highmore. Not in everything at least. But hey, majority is what counts right?

  16. Lindy is entitled to her opinion. :-) I'm sure there are movies that she loves and you guys don't. I love August Rush, doesn't mean she has to. <3

  17. totally, I agree. we would be so boring if we were all the same.
I mean, what would we fight about?

Just Kidding. :) <3 to you Lindy!

  19. :-D I love you guys.

But I kinda made the remark about the majority counting more than the minority to get a reaction.

And here I thought I was making a controversial statement and everyone tells me they love me. :-)

    I love you guys.
