I'm feeling very infatuthymic today. yes, I made that up. it needed a word. basically it means I am in the mood to fall in love. in the mood for a violent and desperate crush. which could be why I changed my icon to the most adorable pic of Archie Kennedy I could find, and changed my computer background from a nice quiet scene of Rivendell to a gorgeous wallpaper with three shots of Norrington on it.
by the way, -thymia is a very handy suffix to have on hand when making up words to describe feelings. it means, "condition or state of mind." I just found it today.
so, if you see me, don't laugh. I am developing a crush on practically everyone I see, and am irretrevably in love with anyone I have ever been in love with before.
especially Sophos.
this shouldn't last more than a week, I would think. so don't worry. and if you are feeling the same, we could start an IA - infatuthymics anonymous. my higher power could be my Legolas picture!
no?...........
drat it. I just had the most depressing thought of the year.
ReplyDeleteall the literary/movie characters I am in love with end up dying.
1)Smike. dies
2)Lord Frederick Verisopht. dies
3)Boromir. dies
4)Norrington. dies
5)Archie. dies
I shouldn't be at all surprised if Sophos dies in the next book. thank goodness for Faramir being rescued. (though he nearly died)
my mother advises staying single.
lol, Faramir and Boromir are pretty cool but I personaly would go for legolas :)
ReplyDeleteis marrying a dead person leagal? hmmmm.
ReplyDeletesorry, but i am not feeling likewise.
but i'll say something anyway 'cause i'm bored.
which i just did.
ummmmm. who plays boromir again? i've seen him in 3 or 4 other movies and his name skips my mind.
SEAN BEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love him. he's so good at playing bad guys. and he's really cute. and he has an amazing accent!!!!
*jumps up and down*
and you have good taste Katie. sometime you will have to see my Legolas picture.
what? i thought he had a horrible accent. maybe it was becasue in the movie, he was being OVERLY scottish . . . oh well.
ReplyDeletedude. he's not scottish.
ReplyDeletehe's so not even trying to be scottish.
somebody back me up here. sean bean is my english bad-guy-prince. and he's from yorkshire, which is why he sounds semi-scottish.
*sigh* this is not a good time to talk about guys.
we watched a movie with Jimmy Stewart tonight. that was amazing too.
i'm not saying he was trying to be scottish in real life, i'm just saying that he tried to be scottish in this one movie and it sounded terrible. but other then that, i like him for what he did in LOTR and National Treasure.
ReplyDeleteoh. ok. that makes sense.
ReplyDeletewell, we can't all of us be perfect, can we?
but I think a Yorkshire accent is honestly the best accent on earth. I smile and want to bust up laughing every time I hear it. it's like taking the really cool parts of scottish without the bother of trying (unsuccessfully) to trill your r's. then you add some honest country farmer type stuff to it (droping g's and such), and best of all, turn every "uh" sound into an "oooo" sound. that's the most amazing part.
*looks around* *everyone has left*
sorry. never mind.
but if you're ever bored on youtube.....
Haha I watched a movie with Sean Bean and his scottish accent. I liked it. And I'm with Kacy: he's my all time accented bad guy. Hahaha Kacy you make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteBut Katie! How could you do that to an Elf? An immortal??? Making him fall in love with you and then dying after eighty years or so, he couldn't live after you died. Kinda like Arwen. Tragic, beautiful. Still, tragic. Why is it that the most romantic and beautiful stories are tragic ones??? Really....
Dude, what movie is your photo from Kacy??? I love that kid! He was on Battle Star Galactica (Which I hated btw but loved him, the actor. His Character was flakey democratically idealistic. Boring.) Anyhoo....
Kacy, you forgot to add Neil Perry to your dead list! He's as cute now as he was, oh my gosh, nineteen years ago. *shivers* Well, he was cuter than. Still the same cripplingly horrible posture though. His shoulders could have been the Lupu bridge!
Sorry....
Did you miss me???
oh my Lindy dear! you always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteyeah, add Neil. dead.
and I forgot about Pol too. dead.
c'mon...I'm sure we could come up with more if we just keep thinking hard!!!
yes, the actor is Jamie Bamber, and I never saw Battle Star Galactica because I couldn't bear to watch him in something other than the Horatio Hornblower series, which is what the pic's from.
He plays Lt. Archie Kennedy, my 5th true love. Horatio is the hero (pretty much perfect in every way but still not a flat character; it's fun to watch how he saves the day all the time and what kind of trouble he get into). Archie is his sidekick, and very best friend, and tends to get into more trouble. prone to panick, but incredibly brave. cute as heck.
and as you can see from my list, he dies as well (of course he does...I like him right?). since I gave away that he dies, I might as well tell you how - because he is a hero. Horatio, through no fault of his own, is going to be hanged for mutiny (basically, this heroic captain went crazy and they needed a scapegoat and Horatio drew the short straw). so they have this battle (they're alwas having these naval battles), and Archie gets shot and doesn't tell anybody.
*sniff*
when he basically knows he's gonna die, he takes all the blame instead of Horatio.
*starts bawling*
and dies in a very romantic, best-friend sort of scene which I cry during every time.
*looks around for tissues*
so as you can see from the pic, he ranks up there with Robert Sean Leonard. *grins*
and as you can tell from this comment, I'm extremely long-winded tonight!
I love you Lindy. and I ALWAYS miss you - both of you girls!
OMG! THAT'S SO SAD!!! *looks for tissue* We'd be a couple of basket cases if we watched that movie, or series thing, together I just know it.
ReplyDeleteBut I can totally see how Archie ranks equal to Robert. Both romantic, heroic, and die tragically. Haha Back to my previous point of beauty being tragic. Like Romeo and Juliet. They were fictional and died, oh, what's the word???? TRAGICally.
And why do they have to be cute as heck anyhow??? I suppose it's cuz we have to fall in love with them and cry at the appointed times to carry the atmusphere and believability of the story. If we cry, it's believable.
I hate poets.
:-D
I fall in love with like all the heroes in the books I read too. But I also am always gunning for the misunderstood and underdeveloped characters. Most recent example: Little Richard in Peter and the Starcatchers. He's big, dumb, abused, and makes me want to hug him. I know he's really a bad guy cuz he does whatever Slank tell him to do, but really, given the chance I think little Richard woulda been a good giant in Narnia. I think I think this way about him because his character and personality is so basic and, basic, that I start thinking up all these possibilities. Big lugs are never too far gone, cuz like giants, they're not the richest in the brains department and only need proper guidance!
Really, have you have met an intelligent giant???
I miss you too Kacy! <3
lol, oh Lindy.....
ReplyDeleteI love how we both left super-long rambling comments about nothing particular.
but both very entertaining.
at least for us two if not for anyone else.
Pol's the soldier dude in The Thief. Sophos' bodyguard. hero because he shoves Ambiedes off a cliff! (ooops, so we shouldn't be rejoicing about that?)
yes, it's kind of the same how you can be in love with both Nicholas for being the amazing hero of the story, and with Smike just because, well, he's Smike.
awwww.....I'm gonna start crying again.
