it's the first thing you see as you open your eyes/the last thing you say as you're saying goodbye

this isn't another long, talk-all-about-me kind of post. actually, I just really want prayer for a friend of mine.

my best friend growing up was Katie - we've known each other since we were a year old (don't remember meeting, so basically all our lives we've been best friends). a few years after we moved away from Seattle, we started kind of drifting apart, and eventually we just lost touch. we haven't been in contact for the past couple of years. but on thursday my aunt called saying Katie had gotten the office number and called looking for a way to get in touch with me, and that she wanted to talk to me ASAP - like that night if possible. so I called her to see what was going on.

her mom passed away last Sunday, of cancer. she had been fighting it for a very long time - way back when we were little kids. but it came back and three weeks ago they were told that the treatment wasn't effective anymore, and then on this past Sunday she passed away. it's hit me kind of hard, because Katie and I are just two months apart - I can't imagine losing my mom right now. anyway, I went out there yesterday afternoon for an open house thing they were having, kind of a memorial/celebration of her life sort of thing, which was really nice. it was great to see Katie again. they seem to be doing ok all things considered, but just please, please, please pray for the family. they were super close and this is going to be so hard. Katie has a younger brother, Doug, who's 13, and then there's her dad too.

thanks you guys,

Kacy

  1. Oh, I don't know how I hadn't seen this post until now. I'll be praying for sure.
