so last night I made this big long post about golf and stuff, actually more about my coach than golf really (so it wasn't that boring), and the Blogger tells me they had some weird problem like someone else was posting at the same time, or something similar (it doesn't really matter), and they said go back a page and try again.
which basically means, blogger sucks, we deleted your post and you're screwed. NOW try again.
so I shut down my computer and went to bed.
but I didn't come on here to tell you that. it's just preamble. like the Constitution. yeah that's right, my real post is the length of the Constitution. aren't you excited??
okay, never mind. these attempts at humor are getting to be too much strain.
suffice it to say that I had my first piano lesson with my neighbor today, and it went extremely well. also, she refered a friend to me so now I will have two students! and I got a check from her and from the fair stuff I entered. so I'm no longer "officially" broke.
although I am broke in practice, if not in theory. it's all in the bank and I don't think I'll get to take much out with my mom's approval until next month or so.
we'll see.
oh yes and we walked to the college again today to get my music theory book, which is as big as my algebra book (serious, it weighs a ton!) and just about as expensive. and I already know the stuff at the beginning.
except that I had to teach myself how to read alto and tenor cleff. I realized that this is music theory, not piano theory.
after my lesson I got a nice over-sized bowl of ice cream and guiltily watched the first half of Conspiracy Theory. amazing movie! it's so incredibly dumb that it's awesome. and Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts saved it.
"he said a dog bit his nose."
"arff."
alto and tenor are actually pretty easy compared to that stupid, ridiciulous bass cleff.
ReplyDeleteme and bass clef are not getting along. we're on bad terms. i feel like grounding his nose into the carpet vigorously and yelling WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE TWO STEPS DOWN FROM TREBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol that it interesting
ReplyDeleteokay, now i think we're getting along a little better. see? picture!
ReplyDeleteDON'T tell me. i know the last one was up there way too long.
You found it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI seriously want to henna that on myself. a friend sharpied it on me for the mission trip which was pretty sweet. I think I'll do that tonight.
maybe. but I am really glad you changed your pic.
bass clef is easier because it's far enough removed that it's really a different thing altogether. just remember that good boys deserve fudge always. but that darn alto and tenor, they are so close to being treble that I always read them wrong!
come to think of it, I've had the same pic forever. I should change it.
ReplyDeleteHA! thats funny . . . . though i can leave mine up for a little while . . . lol.
ReplyDeletethats why i didn't see your posted . . . you posted 45 minutes after i did . . lol.
Yep, alto is hard. It's one step below treble and one step above bass.
ReplyDeleteI think we should all go back to the medieval practice of coloring the middle c line red and the f below that green. Then everything will make sense and be easy to read.
That IS a cute pic! I drew a treble clef backwards the other day by accident and it was so funny I left it that way...
Hey, congrats on getting your piano lessons going :-) I'm glad that you seem to have an enjoyable line of work here for you. That is always nice.
ReplyDeleteGosh, I haven't been on your blog in a while. I need to make a better habbit of checking everybody's blogs but somehow I don't seem to ever find enough time. Although I guess it doesn't help much that I practically have to fight sometimes to get on our computer (ok, ok, so sharing the one computer that has internet with my family isn't quite THAT bad....usually. But it does cut my time down and can be rather annoying.)
So you had a fair down there too? I just got back from Lewiston's fair today. It was a TON of fun, and I got quite a few ribbons as well, which is nice. Especially since ribbons translate into prize money.... =)
yes I hear you Sarah. though I won't get my check for a couple of months still. they're pretty slow about that...I just got the one from county back in July....
ReplyDeleteyep, State (also known as Puyallup [try pronouncing that!]) Fair. and my L-A-S-T year in cat 4-H. Hip Hip - Hooray!!!!!
I know HOW to read alto and tenor, it just takes a lot of time. like when you first learned treble and FACE and how every good boy deserves fudge, but you still had to count up and down from whichever note you knew for sure. it's just time-consuming.
I don't know what to do for a new pic. it'll probably have to wait for a little while, until I get settled in at school and actually have some time. I may disappear for awhile next week, WARNING.
oh yes, and about henna.....not on your life. considering it takes two hours to dry - two hours I don't have to do nothing with my hand.
*sigh* I am tired and sleep deprived. good night.
