Home again

Hi all,
We're back! well, most of us...we're all a little tired, but tonight we're going to the symphony to see Anoushka Shankar!!! in like 3 and a half hours. I'm soooo excited!!!!

How was everybody's Easter? Mine was great - my dad and I hid easter eggs Saturday night, and then everybody else had to find them, which was really funny! The last two to be found were one that he hid on the backside of a wall clock, and one that I hid inside a hollow porcelain statue on top of a bookshelf. We had a great time laughing at everyone else trying to find our eggs. We kinda bummed around for awhile...Dad had the Masters on (biggest golf tournament of the year) which was really neat - a Christian guy won who'd never won any tournament before, and he was interviewed a few times and always gave Jesus thanks and praise for his victory. I thought that was so neat; his name is Zach Johnson.
Let's see, then we went to the condo park place and walked by the river and threw a softball and went swinging on the swingset. Came back and made an early dinner with salmon and artichokes and bruschetta and cream puffs for dessert! (My cream puffs didn't turn out, but we made some more and they did) Dad and I went golfing Saturday and I shot a 135, my middle score between a 125 and 137, but not too bad considering how little I've been practicing lately. Last night we went down in the evening and hit 4 more holes just having fun. went hot tubbing all three nights - and last night was the most fun...

So Dad and I went to the hot tub with Mom and my grandma, and then they both went in because it was raining. (By the way, hot tubbing is a lot more fun in the rain than it is regularily, because you don't get so overheated in such a short amount of time.) So then it was just Dad and me for a few more minutes, but then we both got fairly hot too, so we decided to go in. About half way back to the condo, Dad stops and turns off to the side. I'm like, "what are you doing?" and he's like "I thought I'd go for a walk," so I said I'd go with him (it was about 10:00), because the cool night air actually felt really good since we were both so hot.

So here we are, walking down the street in our swimsuits and towels at ten o'clock at night in the rain, and this guy comes walking by. he's just like, how are you doing? like it was no big deal, but I don't even want to guess what he was thinking. Hold on though, it gets better.

there's a par-3 golf course (which basically just means smaller than usual golf courses) that's opening next weekend at this resort, and Dad suggested that we walk on the course. It really sounded like a good idea, so we take off on the first hole (at 10 PM in the rain in our swimsuits, and I forgot to add that we were both bare-footed too!) and walk throught the first sand trap and start laughing at super-weird things and joking around, just having an all-around good time and trying to make sure nobody saw us and kicked us off (oops :P). Then we walked through the bark on the other side of the road and waded in the fountain. dad somehow thought it necessary to dip his head into the freezing cold water, which just proves that he's insane. after that it was necessary to get warmed up again by a second dip in the hot tub, before returning to the condo. I think the thing that made us laugh the most was imagining the look on the groundskeeper's face when he saw two sets of bare footprints going through the sand in his first bunker!

good times...

we laugh, we cry/we fall, we fly/and sometimes we wonder why/we're even here

last night I knew why we're here...

So, that was my weekend, how was everyone else's? What did you peoples do for Easter? Tell me, I'm not just asking because (in other words, this isn't a rhetorical question and I do expect an answer from each of you!)

  1. It sounds like you had lots of fun!

    Well . . .
We don't do much for Easter.

    For one thing,
Easter eggs and all that stuff seems rather shallow compared to what Easter is really for.

Plus, although Easter might be a special day to remember how Christ died on the Cross, we should always always remember it.

Basically, we followed our typical Sunday, but we had a family over for dinner.

I'm sorry I can't give a very good explanation about why we don't really celebrate Easter, but perhaps Emily or someone else can add something . . . a llittle better explained.

I don't even know, Anna and Sam, what your veiwpoint is.

  2. we went to my grandparents and we don't do easter egg hunts but we have easter "trails" made of jelly beans leading to candy and it's very yummy!

and then we went to church Easter Sunday and it was pretty and the choir sang for a very long time and they had the mikes turned up too loud. :P

and then we went back to my grandma's and ate food and played games with my cousins and aunts and uncles.
and ended up looking really smart. it always seems to happen around my cousins. especially when I don't want it to.

  3. lol maybe it's because you ARE really smart Anna!

I totally understand, and yes it is pretty shallow. My grandparents aren't Christians and so when I was younger and we lived really close to them we'd always go to their house for Easter and do the 'american' form of Easter. it's kind of weird, but even though we're doing that with them it's still neat because we pay more attention to what we say than what we're doing (with eggs, etc.), and it's a great witnessing opportunity.

so something else really cool happened: the radio station that they usually listen to is jazz, but in easern WA it's a Christian station just like Spirit 105.3, and so we were kind of surprised to hear a Christian station in their car, but the cool part was that they didn't change the station the whole weekend!!! they just kept it on that station whenever we took the car anywhere, which was really neat.

You're right Beth, we should remember what Christ did for us all the time, not just Easter.

I could use some prayer in the area of witnessing to my grandparents. It's really tough to be with them sometimes knowing that they don't believe what I believe, and I really want to witness to them as much as I can. I know it's all in God's hands, but I sometimes wish He would do things on my timetable. ;)
