Creation and other stuff (WARNING: Not Anna-proof. Some content may be unsuitable for Anna, esp. when mentioning bands)

Hello!!!
So how is everyone? I promised you all a post, so here it is!
Creation was sooooo awesome! I seriously had a blast, just me, my dad, and Belegwen. Of course I missed Mom, and wished she were there, but I know how much she hates the heat, and she probably wouldn't have enjoyed herself quite so much.
So, food. Pretty much eating cerial for breakfast, packing a lunch to eat there, and snacks, and buying something there for dinner. Fending. And living off the condo. They had otter-pops! Mom never buys them, so they're a treat of sorts.
The bands were amazing. No, incredible! No, everything! And after reading Lego's post, I'll write all I want about Third Day because she criticized my favorite band! So anyway, don't read this part Lego. Just kind of skim over, jk. :)
So they played on Friday night, and then Newsboys on Sat. night. Oh my gosh! So we went down off the hill and went to the 'pit' near the stage to get a closer look. They had it in like a semicircle around the stage, and in the middle part of the simicircle they had a pathway going around...
This is impossible to describe! Picture a semicircle, then following the natural arc of the semicircle, put a path through it from one rounded side to the other.
I hope that makes sense! Anyway, the cleared out part was for security guards and stuff, so if anyone wanted to go out (though I don't know why anyone would!) they didn't have to barge through everyone. They could just get to the path and make their way out from there. So Dad and I went down, and we wriggled our way (I'm a professional wriggler, and art I perfected when I was small enough to learn it. Now I'm short enough to make it work in a large crowd) through the outer part of the semicircle up to two rows away from the path. Then I had this humungo-tall guy in front of me. He was taller than my dad. Prolly a head and a half taller than me. So I tapped him on the shoulder (which was quite a stretch, I can tell you!) and kindly asked him if I could stand in front of him, since he could still see over me even when I was jumping! Long, story short, he said yes.
Every now and then people would leave the front half of the semicircle and the guards would bring some people from my side to the other side. How I longed to be asked! And for some reason, he never asked me, but always the people right next to me! I was so upset. I mean, didn't I look like Third Day's biggest fan? I knew all the words, I jumped, I was into it! Why wouldn't he ask me? Then my dad explained that I was best where I was, because I had a clear path of about 5 feet in front of me, and no one in my way. I could see like the whole stage! I explained to him that there would be no problems at all if I were in the front row, but for some reason he just laughed! No, just kidding, I was happy after that. :)
And they played one of my favorite songs first! Anyway, long story short, they rocked! Third Day let loose is one of my favorite concerts ever! And they did the candlelighting service too! My candle went out at least five times, but my dad showed me how to hold it protected from the wind, and after that it stayed lit, and I had to keep relighting the candle of the girl next to me. Then I heard her sing. I'm serious, she has probably the most gorgeous voice I've ever heard! Then it was no trouble to relight her candle...
Newsboys on Sat. night to close Creation. I can't say so much about them, well I could, but I'm getting tired of typing! except that it was probably my favorite after Third Day. This time we all went down (me and Dad and Belegwen) but weren't so lucky in spots, and we got seperated since I was so short and my dad told me to wriggle past some of the tall people. I'm proud to say that I knew almost every song (quite a feat since we only [regretably] have one CD, but my dad loves Newsboys and so do I, so I knew most of the songs) and got fairly close to the front. Then Peter Furler gave his testimony. I'll admit it - I bawled. It was so intended for me! I've struggled for a long time in figuring out my testimony. I've grown up in the church, so I have no 'life changing experience' to relate. Or so I thought. If I could have figured out my testimony and given it, I think they would have been identical. They related so much! I mean, he was a PK! And yet, he made almost everyone cry with his testimony. And he helped me hear what God has been trying to tell me forever (that I couldn't get through my thick skull!) about how to share my testimony. I thank God for that night!
Then my dad's favorite part. Okay, you guys probably don't know this, but my dad is a 'drummer'. At least he was. He's getting back into it (we're borrowing an electric drumset, shich isn't near the same, but he plays it all the same) and he's played 'dashboard drums' forever. :)
This was sweet too. Okay, we're on the first song in the encore. I think it was Shine. Can't remember exactly, but he got it on video, so I'll check later. Anyway, the drums are on this circular platform towards the back left side of the stage, and all of a sudden, this platform starts rising into the air, and stops at about 12 feet off the stage! Then things get interesting. The platform, hardly noticeable at first, then unmistakeably, begins tilting front-first downward toward the stage!!! And we're all thinking "I hope this was planned 'cause if it wasn't this concert's in trouble!" But of course it was planned and all the drums were bolted down, and the platform ends up at a 90 degree angle to the stage with the drummer still playing! Then, Peter Furler walks up to the platform, grabs it, and spins it! So we have a drummer, on a platform, 12 feet off the ground, spinning in circles, and still playing this whole time!!! It was definitely memorable! And my dad got the whole thing on video (on our camera); it was so awesome!!!
Oh...another long post. I need a break. Actually, I need to post more often so I won't have so much to write about at a time!
Watched The Fugative tonight. For the second time. Harrison Ford so does NOT look good with a beard! But he and Tommy Lee Jones are such a good match! My dad loves Tommy Lee Jones, esp. in that movie, and I like it a lot too! So many good one-liners!
I think that's about it. Just getting along.
Oh wait, get this. My mom left the day we got back from Creation to go with some girl friends on a weeklong getaway, so it's JUST me and my dad until Sat.! Isn't that a scary thought! But it's actually kind of fun. Dad's taking it hard that I'm really grown up enough to take care of things, like when I was draining the pasta (that I made for dinner that was on the menu I made for the week of the things I'm cooking!) he's like "Be careful!" and I'm like "Dad, I can drain pasta ok?" Just a word of warning. make sure the plug is not in the sink while you're draining pasta or else there will be a lot of hot water in your sink and you can't stick your hand in there to get it out! You can, however, stick a knife in there to pull the plug out, just don't burn your hand (or your face *coughsannacoughs*) in the process. No I didn't. :)
We're getting along ok though. I miss my mom. I thought we were gonna see her before she left, but then she decided to leave earlier and we got a later start from the condo, so we didn't after all, so I haven't seen her since last Wednesday. But I've talked to her lots:)
And get this: Dad and I made peanut-butter cookies! Which my Mom doesn't like, for some weird reason, but my dad and I adore!!! They are soooo good, and we have them all to ourselves! *evil laugh* Mwahhhhaaaaahahaha!!!!!!
So that's my crazy life in a nutshell.
Oh yeah, and mom has my math CD in her computer, so I'm way behind on that, but I can still do quizzes (oh joy :I) until she gets back.
Okay, hope you aren't bored to death (or half as bored as me) when you're done reading this, if you get through alive!

  1. *groans* Newsboys and Third day?
don't tell me there was AC/DC or what was that other awful band called....

actually I like one Newsboys song. I can't remeber it's name though. maybe it's He Reigns.
but pretty cool. I've always wanted to go to Creationfest, but no. My parents aren't too much into christian rock and that stuff. neither am I, for that matter. Now if Relient K came......

  2. Oh, so you have a problem with Newsboys now too?
Actually, Relient K was there...I wasn't so big on them. I mean, I liked their music, but any time a band's in concert, the music is always louder than the singer, so I couldn't make out half the words. If I heard a CD I'd probably like it.
Don't you have anything else to say about my 2 1/2 page blog? It took a loooong time to type!
Maybe we should talk about something other than music. We can't really seem to agree on it lol! :)
That other awful band would be the Rolling Stones...

  3. RELIENT K WAS THERE? AND I DIDN'T GO?
    *pouts*
don't tell me. Switchfoot was there too.
actually the only good Switchfoot CD is the Beautiful Letdown. and that one's awesome. But their new CD is all depressing and stuff. so pff. whatever.

I adore Relient K. it's a really really awesome band. Unfortunately, I don't own any of their CDs. But my brother does. and I steal them. *evil grin*

  5. There music isn't really anything incredible...although their lyrics are. Mac Powell has a real gift for writing lyrics (you don't have to like his voice anna, but you have to admit his gift for song-writing)! I think that's what we like about them so much.
    Anyone like Hawk Nelson?
